Final Training Squad Named as GB Women Prepare for Upcoming EuroBasket Qualifiers

GB Basketball have named their roster for the upcoming FIBA Women’s EuroBasket qualifiers.GB open their campaign against Switzerland in front of a home crowd at the National Performance Centre in Manchester on Wednesday 12 November, tip off 19:00.
Newly appointed, Styliani Kaltsidou will be stepping into the role of Head Coach for the first time and will lead a squad which contains a number of experienced players including Temi Fagbenle.
Kaltsidou will be reunited with Fagbenleas well as Shanice Beckford-Norton and Savannah Wilkinson having guided them to EuroCup success while at London Lions in 2024.Holly Winterburn was also part of that historic win and continues to be coached by Kaltsidou at Athinaikos Basketball Club, Greece.
New faces have the opportunity to make their mark in Manchester with Nina Rickards joining the senior 5v5 set up for the first time after playing 3x3 for GB this summer.
At the age of 17, Irene Obavwuduo steps up into the senior squad having developed her game through the GB pathway.The young guard will make her debut in her home city - having been born in West Gorton, Obavwuduo now plays basketball for Manchester Basketball Club in the Super League Basketball and Manchester Mystics at academy level.

The qualifier marks the start of a new EuroBasket campaign and will be the first of three games this November.The 14-player roster will be reduced to 12 ahead of the upcoming away fixtures when GB take on Austria (Saturday 15 November) and then Norway (Tuesday 18 November).
