Europe Cup preview: Watch GB 3×3 here plus fixtures & squads
Great Britain’s men and women go into battle in the 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifier in Romania on Sunday.
The prize for success on Day 2 of the event is a spot in the Finals in Paris later this year and some of the top names from the GB 5v5 squads have committed to the programme as the short-sided form of the game grows in popularity.
Teams have been entered as part of a collaboration between Great Britain Basketball and Basketball England to help prepare Team England players for next year’s Commonwealth Games and set about improving the GB national teams’ 3×3 rankings.
The likes of Myles Hesson and Ashley Hamilton, Temi Fagbenle and Chantelle Handy are part of coaches Julius Joseph and Stef Collins’ squads along with some of the best talent from the UK game.
The GB men match up with Ukraine, Hungary and Kosovo in their pool, while the women face Hungary and Slovakia. The top two from each pool go into eliminators with four teams from the men’s competition and four from the women’s earning a ticket to Paris.
