Ovie backing GB v Kosovo in Manchester
Ovie Soko will be at the Great Britain basketball team’s crunch match with Kosovo in Manchester on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old GB forward won’t be rejoining his team-mates on court after his stint in the hit ITV show Love Island.
But he will be at the National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue to support them and sign autographs for fans and take part in a Q&A.
The current round of EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers has come to soon for Soko after he came third in the TV contest, winning an army of new admirers with his on-air performances.
He wants fans of both the GB team and Love Island to help him cheer the team on as they look to add to their two wins after beating Kosovo away and Luxembourg at home already.
GB team manager Chris Morris said: “We’re delighted to have Ovie back with the group. He is not quite ready to play yet but is right behind his pals and keen to help create a big buzz for the game in Manchester.
“Getting another win on the court is the main thing and if Ovie’s fans want to come and join the party on Saturday night we’d love to see them. We want a full house and a great atmosphere. It should be a cracker and Ovie will be here to chat with fans and sign autographs afterwards.”
GB head their three-team group ahead of the clash with Kosovo and a trip to Luxembourg next Wednesday.
