Search for new GB Women’s Head Coach begins
Following the departure of Chema Buceta at the end of 2023, the British Basketball Federation has started the process to recruit a new Head Coach for the Great Britain Women’s Basketball team.
Buceta stepped down from the role in December 2023 after eight years in charge, and so the federation is now looking for a replacement to lead the women’s team into a new era where the immediate challenges will be qualification for FIBA EuroBasket 2025, plus the possibility of competing at the World Cup pre-qualifiers this August.
Fiona Pimblett, Performance Lead for the British Basketball Federation, said: “GB Women’s Head Coach is a crucial position for the team and for the federation. We are seeking candidates who not only have excellent coaching knowledge and experience, but also great leadership skills and the ability to grow a strong performance culture within the team.
“It’s a very exciting time to be joining the British Basketball Federation, as we continue to develop our coaching and performance structures. We believe that we are in a strong position to help our senior and junior teams to achieve even greater success on the World and European stage.”
