The British Basketball Federation is delighted to confirm the 12-man roster for the Under-16s FIBA European Championship ‘B’ Division in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The Championships commence on August 11, with GB’s first game taking place on August 12 against Norway, with subsequent fixtures to follow against Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sweden and Portugal in the Pool Stages of the competition.
Ahead of the competition getting underway, U16 Men’s Head Coach Troy Culley said:
“We are in Group C with four teams who are very different from a playing style perspective, with each team presenting us with a different challenge. With GB not playing in international competition for the last two years due to the pandemic, our opening game against Norway will be the first international game in a GB jersey for all 12 of our players.
“It will be a steep learning curve, and I expect to see our team improve as the tournament develops and I believe that we have the right blend across the team to be competitive.
“We have selected a dynamic group of players with a blend of skill, size, athleticism, and basketball IQ, but most importantly we’ve selected high-character individuals that will represent Great Britain the right way on the international stage.”
