U18 WOMEN: GB 55-40 NORWAY

14th July 2019

Great Britain picked up their third win of the Under-18 Women’s EuroBasket Division B by beating Norway 55-40 in Skopje with a confident display.

After earlier victories over Albania and North Macedonia, coach Len Busch’s team scored another success in their final game to finish the tournament on a high.

It means they take 19th place in the tournament.

Up 30-20 at half-time, they increased their advantage in the second half with a strong third quarter, taking it 16-9.

GB could afford to ease off in the final period and still maintian a healthy lead. Asha Andrews led the GB scoring with 11 points with Pollyanna Nichol Storie (9) and Olivia Partridge (8) providing support. Esther Little claimed 12 rebounds to go with her four points, while Brahe Ashton dished out six assists.

Coach Busch said: “This was a really nice win for the team and a good way to finish the tournament.

“Everybody played, everybody contributed and the 3-5 record, while we may have had higher hopes than that, it was still a good result for us, but, more importantly, everybody feels that the campaign was a positive experience.

“We came in as one team and everybody is going back to the UK as one team and excited about the national team programme.”
