U20 WOMEN: GB 89-67 CROATIA
GB U20 Women kept their hopes of promotion to Division A alive with a strong 89-67 win over Croatia, aided by a dominate scoring performance from Loren Christie who finished with 26 points.
The game started evenly with both teams trading baskets. This continued throughout the first ten minutes as neither team could ignite a run that would push them ahead. As the teams headed into the 2nd quarter, GB held a 20 – 18 lead.
That trend would continue for much of the 2nd quarter as neither team could stop the other from scoring and GB went into the break up 41 – 39.
During the half, Coach Jeff Jones spoke to his players and moved the team’s focus onto defence, helping GB to pull away to a comfortable win. Playing some lock down defence and converted on the offensive end, GB finished the quarter with a 13-0 run that broke the game open. As the teams went into the final break, the score was 69-47 and GB were good value for their lead.
Having done the hard work in 3rd quarter, GB made sure they didn’t give their opponents any opportunity to get back into the contest during the final 10 minutes. Stopping Croatia from going on any kind of a run, GB were more than happy to draw the 4th 20-20 and seal a comfortable win.

Great Britain will conclude the competition’s 2nd round tomorrow as they face Israel, tipping at 3:30pm UK time. With just one set of games remaining in the 2nd round, all four teams in Group E are currently tied with a 1-1 record. Once the schedule is completed, the top two sides from the group will progress to the semi-finals and a shot at promotion to Division A for 2020.
