U16 Women: GB 84-47 Albania
Great Britain’s Under-16 women crushed Albania to record their first win at the European Championship in Sophia.
After narrow Group B losses to Portugal and Belarus, coach Kenrick Liburd guided his team to a convincing victory in their third game of the tournament.
Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu (18 points) and Joise Leavold (17) were the team’s high-scorers as GB went on a points spree.
They opened up a lead of 23-10 by the end of the first quarter and then held Albania to a single point in the second period for a 42-11 half-time advantage.
GB took the third quarter 22-12 to remain well in control and, despite Albania clinching the fourth period 24-20, the result was never in doubt.
Ireland are GB’s next opponents on Monday.
