STEUTEL PICKS 24-MAN TRAINING CAMP ROSTER
Great Britain coach Marc Steutel has named his 24-man training camp ahead of the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers against Greece later this month (November).
GB will host the Greeks at the CopperBox Arena in London on Thursday, 21 November, followed by the return leg in Greece on Sunday, 24 November.
Currently, Great Britain heads to their two Group F encounters with a 1-1 record, beating the Netherlands in Newcastle in February followed by a narrow loss to Czechia.
The roster includes Trefl Sopot’s Tarik Phillip, Umana Reyer Venice forward Carl Wheatle, and Dolomiti Energia Trento guard Quinn Ellis, all of whom are enjoying their campaigns in the BKT EuroCup.
Phillip, formerly of the London Lions, is averaging 12.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists a game with the Polish outfit.
Wheatle comes into the camp averaging 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists a game, while Ellis is posting solid numbers of 6.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.0 steals a contest.
The roster also includes six players from the Super League Basketball with Bristol Flyers’ Evan Walshe, Caledonia Gladiators sharpshooter Patrick Whelan, Cheshire Phoenix’s RJ Eytle-Rock, Josh Ward-Hibbert of the Newcastle Eagles, B.Braun Sheffield Sharks wing Jamell Anderson and Josh Steel from the Surrey 89ers featured.
There is also a return to the international fold for Luke Nelson, who is having a stellar season in the FIBA Europe Cup with Polish side Anwil Wloclawek, posting 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
