STEUTEL ANNOUNCES GB ROSTER AHEAD OF SOUTH SUDAN SHOWDOWN
Great Britain men’s coach Marc Steutel has named his 12-player roster ahead of the Subway® Summer Slam series clash against South Sudan on Thursday night at the CopperBox Arena in London.
For the first time, the promising talents of Ethan Price, and Kiayem Cleary have been included in the lineup.
They join the ranks of the squad that showed their mettle at the recent FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, promising an exciting blend of fresh energy and seasoned experience.
Veteran Carl Wheatle will captain Great Britain, and he will be joined by the returning Myles Hesson, Josh Ward-Hibbert, Jelani Watson-Gayle, and Daniel Akin.
Adding to the excitement, Surrey Scorchers’ guard Josh Steel makes a return to the international fold, bringing his wealth of experience to coach Steutel’s side.
Tickets are still available for Thursday’s game against Paris 2024-bound South Sudan, tipping off at 7:30pm with Steutel calling on the support of the British basketball community.
Great Britain coach, Marc Steutel: “I’m excited about the team, the players we have got to represent Great Britain at home in the capital for a really big occasion. This is a chance for us to build on the summer time, it’s important and it should be a staple of the British basketball calendar.
“We have a good blend of guys who are at different points in their international career. We have some guys, who have got more than 50 caps, some who are in-between and then some less than experienced guys, which is something that we wanted to achieve this summer.
“I’m excited though, we have the ability to play the GB way with this group and we will string 40 minutes together on Thursday.”
