On the move – where GB stars will be playing next season
There will be new teams for some of Great Britain’s stars when basketball returns – while other have announced extensions at their current clubs.
There may be uncertainty about when playing can resume following the coronavirus pandemic, but there have been plenty of preparations taking place.
Here is where some of our GB players will be plying their trade next season.
New Clubs
Ovie Soko is heading back to the Continent to join Le Mans in France after his successful BBL season with London Lions.
Guard Connor Washington returns to his old BBL stomping ground at Leicester Riders after a season in Germany with VfL Bochum and forward Sacha Killeya-Jones leaves BC Kalev to join Dabrowa Gornicza (Poland).
Much-travelled big man Ryan Richards heads to Belgium to join Phoenix Brussels.
Temi Fagbenle will sit out the forthcoming WNBA season and joins Reyer Venezia Italy, but fellow big Kristine Anigwe will play on the big US stage with LA Sparks. She will head to ÇBK Mersin in Turkey at the conclusion of the WNBA season.
Guard Eilidh Simpson moves from SBS Ostrava to Lions SV Halle (Germany), while veteran Chantelle Handy is on the move from Arka Gdynia to Casademont Zaragoza in Spain’s top flight.
contract Extensions
GB Men’s team captain Myles Hesson returns to Elan Chalon in France for another year, while Mo Soluade is back with Spanish LEB Gold side Breogan and Carl Wheatle has penned a new two-year with Pistoia in Italy.
In the BBL Jamell Anderson continues his time with Leicester Riders, while Justin Robinson will be with London Lions for another two years after signing a new contract in the capital. He has signed a two-year deal.
