Great Britain to compete at U18 3X3 World Cup for first time
In a hectic summer for British Basketball, history will be made this week as Great Britain are sending a Women’s team to the Under-18 3×3 World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, for the first time.
3×3 Basketball’s popularity in the UK has continued to boom this summer, with Team England and Team Scotland starring at the Commonwealth Games with plenty of GB Basketball talent on show for England and Scotland’s Men’s and Women’s teams, and GB sending teams to the U17 Europe Cup Qualifiers, as well as the senior team qualifiers earlier in the summer.
GB’s entry into this week’s U18 World Cup is the first such entry for a Great Britain team, although England have entered Men’s and Women’s teams in the past.
A quartet of players have been selected for the roster, all of whom featured for Kenrick Liburd’s U18s in the FIBA European Championships ‘B’ Division in 5v5 action earlier this summer.
