Get to know the new GB Women
Three players from Chema Buceta’s roster will have the chance to make their debuts for GB’s senior side tomorrow night as we prepare to face Poland in Istanbul. Here’s all you need to know about Evelyn, Hannah and Sam!
Evelyn Adebayo
Born in London, Evelyn played her youth basketball with Barking Abbey and Newham Youngbloods. After competing with BA London Lions in their debut WBBL season in 2015, the now 24-year-old moved to the US to study, completing a masters in Sports Management.
Having featured for GB U20s during her college years, Evelyn played for UConn Huskies in her final year, ending their perfect season with an AAC championship. This season the forward finds herself in Spain with Pacisa Alcobendas.
Hannah Robb
The only Scot in GB’s squad for the upcoming game, Hannah began her career in Tayside with local club Tayside Muskies. In 2016 Robb made the move to Edinburgh, playing for Edinburgh University as well as beginning her WBBL journey with Caledonia Pride.
Over her four years with the club the 22-year-old became the franchise’s all-time top scorer. Having represented Scotland at U16, U18 and Senior level, Hannah captained GB U20s at FIBA’s U20 European Championships back in 2018. This season will be her fifth in the WBBL, having made the move south to Leicester Riders.
Samantha Roscoe
Born in Perth, Australia, Sam grew up playing basketball down under before moving to the US to study at the University of North Dakota from 2013-17. After a spell with Lakeside Lightening, the forward made the move to the WBBL, spending two years with Manchester Mystics.
Having made the initial training roster for last summer’s EuroBasket Women, the 25-year-old has started the 2020/21 season with German side Goettingen. And, if we’re in need of a buzzer-beating half-court shot, Sam’s got it covered:
