Get to know the new GB Men
Three new faces have joined up with GB Men this window ahead of our EuroBasket qualifying double-header vs France and Montenegro this weekend. Here’s all you need to know about the youngsters:
Cameron Hildreth
Hildreth steps up to the senior squad for the first time having previously represented GB at age-group level, most recently travelling to Greece with GB U18s last summer. Domestically, he plays in NBL Division One with Worthing Thunder.
Earlier this month, Hildreth recorded a stat line of 38 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 7 steals for Worthing in the Lynch Trophy. Looking ahead to 21/22, the 18-year-old has also committed to NCAA D1 side Wake Forest. The college programme has developed a number of NBA players over the years, including Tim Duncan and Chris Paul.
Rex PfLueger
Rex Pflueger joins Marc Steutel’s squad from BBL side Newcastle Eagles, having made the move from California to the North East in the summer.
For the last five years, Rex has played in NCAA D1 with Notre Dame, ending his college career with the most appearances in the college’s history (141). Scott Martin, who played in Newcastle for four seasons, was an assistant coach at Notre Dame and helped him decide on his move to the UK
The 24-year-old qualifies for GB through his late mother, Rebecca, and has extended family still living in Devon.
Kareem Queeley
Kareem Queeley is the third player hoping to make his senior debut over the coming days. His last activity in a GB jersey came in Israel last summer, with the shooting guard averaging 12.3 points, 4 rebounds and 1.3 assists for GB U20s.
Queeley plays domestically with San Pablo Burgos in Spain’s LIGA ACB. The 19-year-old was part of the San Pablo Burgos roster which lifted the Basketball Champions League in October. The team’s 85-74 victory over AEK in Athens saw him become the first Brit to win the Champions League.
