GB Women in Spain for double-header
GB Women have arrived in Madrid ahead of their final two warm up games in preparation for next week’s FIBA Women’s EuroBasket.
The team travel to Spain on the back of two wins over Canada and will look to continue building momentum as they face both Sweden and Spain in the coming days.
On Saturday night, GB face Sweden for the second time in as many weeks before returning to Fuenlabrada on Sunday night to play hosts Spain. The games tip off at 7:30pm and 8pm respectively (BST). Sweden and Spain will also face each other during the weekend, with that game taking place on Friday night.
Head Coach Chema Buceta is looking forward to the games, explaining that the tough challenge is what the team needs to be ready for EuroBasket:
“These games are two games that are very useful to us to prove that we are improving. Sweden are a very strong team, they proved that when they beat us in Slovenia two weeks ago. Spain are the bronze medallists in the World Championships and Olympic silver medallists, they are very strong too. These are two strong games and this is why when we organised the preparation we decided to play strong games, it’s two more games for us to improve.”
Updates from both games will be available via GB Basketball’s social channels, with Sunday night’s game being shown on Spanish television.
