U18 Women: GB 46-65 Ukraine
GB U18 Women’s third group game of their European Championship saw best result so far in a competitive loss to Ukraine, 46-65.
The first quarter saw Ukraine take an early lead as they held GB to just four points through the first eight minutes of the period. However, a quick run by Coach Busch’s side had them take the lead as the buzzer sounded (9-8).
As the second half started Ukraine moved through the gears on both sides of the floor. This saw them score twice as much as GB through keeping Busch’s side in single digits as they took the biggest lead of the game (35-42).
GB came out in the second quarter and continued to show their strength as they traded baskets with Ukraine keeping their narrow lead. As the half came to a close Cameron Taylor-Willis hit both free throws and grew GB’s lead to 26-22.
The final quarter saw Coach Pidluzhniak’s side keep their foot on the gas as they kept their run going from the third period. GB tried to get back into the game with a small run but, Ukraine wouldn’t let up and won the quarter 23-11 as they grew their lead and beat GB 46-65.
