U18 Women: GB 38-81 Sweden
The U18 Women’s second group match pitted them against Sweden in a tough game which ended 81-38 in favour of the Swedes.
The first quarter started tight with both sides not giving the other a run keeping the score close with five minutes left of the first (4-5). At the mid-point Sweden changed gear and showed their talent with a 15-2 run growing their lead (6-20). GB ended the quarter strong with a run of their own as they narrowed the deficit as the quarter ended (15-24).
Sweden showed their great defence in the second quarter as they locked us down only allowing us to score 7 points. Coach Lundgren made sure his side capitalised on the great defence as they grew the lead further and the teams went into the break 22-41.
The second half started in the same fashion with Sweden locking GB up on defence as they kept us to single digits (9 points) in the quarter. The Swedes continued to effectively break from their stops as they scored 20 points sending the teams into the fourth quarter 31-61. Coach Busch’s side couldn’t get back into the game as
Sweden ended it with their most dominate quarter as they won it 20-7 their defence once again proving to much as the final buzzer sounded the score 38-81 to Sweden.
