GB U16 Men’s training squad confirmed
GB U16 Men’s Head Coach, James Vear, has named the initial 18-man training squad as the team begin their preparations ahead of August’s European Championships.
Players from across the UK have already gathered as the team spent some time in Loughborough to begin the camp, which is set to continue over the next few weeks.
The team will be competing against 23 other nations in Division B of FIBA U16 Europe, which takes place in Podgorica from the 8th to 17th of August.
GB will face Slovakia, Finland, Austria, Romania and Belgium in Group D, with just the top two sides progressing to the quarter-finals. The group face a tough schedule in Montenegro as all five group games being played in just six days.
Vear is delighted with how his squad looked upon their return to camp and is looking forward to the competitive action:
“It has been great to see how much some of the players have developed since we last saw them back in December, camp has been very competitive & the players have done a great job of being coachable and trying to put the concepts we are stressing on court.”
“With such a short preparation period before we fly out we are making sure we utilise the time we spend together, I am looking forward to seeing how this group of talented players does in a European environment.”
