DBS
In order to protect young people and adults at risk in sport, it is essential to carry out risk assessments and safe recruiting, whether of staff or volunteers. The law enables enhanced Barred List checks on all those in Regulated activity and you will find guidance as to who can have a check and how to do that.
It is British Basketball’s policy that all those in Regulated Activity must have a DBS (England & Wales) or a Disclosure Scotland PVG check, done, every 3 years. This is regardless of whether you already have had a check through other volunteering or work roles. If you are a coach and have another volunteering role in basketball you don’t need 2 certificates.
See documents below for explanation of the process, considering safe recruitment more widely, and related policies.
