Great BRITAIN Youth Team Training Camp Squads Confirmed Ahead of FIBA Youth EuroBasket 2024
The Great Britian 5v5 youth teams are gearing up for an exciting summer of international competition.
With training camps already well underway, the U16 women, U16 men, U18 women, U18 men, U20 women and U20 men are fine tuning their preparations to compete in Division B of the FIBA Youth EuroBasket tournaments this summer.
The teams are made up of some of the most promising players across each of the age groups and they will bring their talent and national pride to the court when they represent Great Britain this summer.
GB Basketball Performance Lead, Fiona Pimblett, said:
“It’s been an incredibly competitive process this year across all of our age groups; we have a lot of really exciting, talented players. I’m happy to see that Great Britian Basketball can play a significant role in developing the best young players in the country, not only giving them international experience, but also showcasing them to the world, and supporting them in the future at the senior international and professional level.
“We know that we have more work to do in this area, to continue to unearth the best talent coming through the system, by working with our close partners in the home countries of Basketball England, Basketball Scotland, and Basketball Wales, and of course the amazing clubs and academies who have developed the players to this level.
“Without the support of home countries and associated funding partners, we wouldn’t have been able to get to this stage. This is why we continue to be grateful for these collaborations and look forward to more in the future.”
The selection process began for the U16 and U18 squads back in January with the Youth Combine Camp, and age group trials, followed by a separate process later in the year for U20. The combine allowed the players to showcase their talents and gave the coaches a valuable opportunity to evaluate and select the players.
Squad training camps began with the Under 20 Men and Under 20 Women in Sheffield in the first half of June. The other age groups are also taking part in camps before heading to Europe for the FIBA Youth EuroBasket 2024 with the competitions taking place as follows:
