Wilkinson reappointed as GB Officiating National Instructor

13th September 2021

The British Basketball Federation is pleased to announce Neil Wilkinson has been reappointed as the GB Officiating National Instructor for the next two years.

Wilkinson’s role will include the support and continued development of elite level officials, as well as being part of the GB Technical Commission, which oversees the Officiating Development frameworks across the BBL/WBBL and the Home Countries.

The GB Technical Commission is made up of representatives of the Home Countries Officiating Departments, the HCA National Instructors and subject matter experts as required.

Wilkinson said: “I am looking forward to undertaking the position of National Instructor for the coming two years. This is an important role to have officials at the strongest level possible and continue to develop the strong reputation officiating has had for a number of years in Europe and wider.

“There has been an amount of work already undertaken by the Technical Commission and I look forward to all parties working together to facilitate the strengthening and development of officiating across Great Britain.”

Grace Jacca, chair of the GB Technical Commission, said: “We are delighted Neil has accepted the role of National Instructor and he will be an integral member of the GB Technical Commission.

“Neil’s experience at the highest levels of Officiating, as well as his work with FIBA in this area, will ensure that we continue to provide the correct support and development opportunities to our elite-level officials, as well as to the Home Countries via the Technical Commission.”
