This weekend will see the second instalment of the Maggie Forber Invitational Basketball Tournament after its inception a year ago. The event in Manchester will provide GB U16 Girls Head Coach Kenrick Liburd with another opportunity to continue shaping his side after taking part in the Pauline Prior International Challenge in Nottingham last April.
Coach Liburd will oversee 20 potential GB selectees at the tournament spread across two teams, maximising court time for all involved.
“Looking at preparation models from across the globe and going through the process for the last two years, we felt it was important to work with this group and see how they respond to instruction and work as a group in competitive environments, “said Liburd.
“We feel that following our second review camp, we will be in a better position to begin to work with a selected 16 to prepare them for the competition ahead.”
This tournament will be one of the last chances for coaches to get a gauge on the players involved before finalising a roster to take to the European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in mid-August.
